About:
After getting his karting career started at the young age of eight, Sandy, Utah resident Austin Versteeg is well on his way to becoming the next motorsports star. Partnering with karting powerhouse PSL Karting, Austin has been crisscrossing North America in pursuit of race wins and championship titles, and is now starting to turn heads as one of the most promising up-and-coming pilots in the junior ranks of karting.
Austin would start out as a karting spectator at only three years of age, watching races at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. After a few years on the sidelines, Austin was hooked after his first time in a kart. Placing fourth in his first Utah Kart Championship series, it did not take the young talent long as the following year Austin won his first championship.
Austin would start his 2011 season off right, taking third in the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas Championship and earning the prestigious Rotax Mini-Max Florida Winter Tour championship title on the strength of three wins and two podium finishes in the six-round series. Austin was also the victor at the esteemed Le Monaco de Trois-Rivières street race, and placed well at two of North America’s grandest events – fourth at the United States Rotax Max Grand Nationals and third at the Pan American Challenge finale.
Austin will wrap up his 2011 season at the granddaddy of all events, the SuperKarts! USA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, Nevada. If Austin’s past success is a predictor of what’s to come for this up-and-coming driver, be sure to keep your eyes on this upcoming motorsports star.
